Start with the guest count
Estimate the number of guests first. Every quantity below starts from this number.
Plates or food containers
Estimate: 1 plate or container per guest, plus about 10% spare. If guests take food home, prepare separate takeaway containers.
Spoons and forks
Estimate: 1 cutlery set per guest, plus spares. Prepare small spoons separately for desserts or puddings.
Cups and straws
Estimate: 1 to 2 cups per guest, depending on the drinks and whether refills are served. PET cups suit cold drinks.
Dessert and kuih containers
Pudding cups, cake containers and lidded kuih boxes make it easy to prepare servings early and hand them out.
Plastic bags
Prepare plastic bags for guests to take food home, and rubbish bags for the event area.
